Here's one of my machines:

Not really an OSX pic, just my current desktop picture sans Finder and Dock.

Edit: Sorry, had to remove my link. It's my laptop and it's going on the road for a while.

Edit: I moved this to my desktop machine a while ago, but never updated this post. Here it is: <a href="http://12.217.84.236:5000/" target="_blank">My Desktop pic</a>.

Hey, alot of people have a menu item that appears to list the incoming and outgoing network traffic. What program is this and where can I get it?
Yes, I know I could buy a PC, but why?

Net Monitor. At the moment 2.4b1 is out, but due to the enormous number of downloads, mac.com has closed the account that hosts it.

I have Net Monitor - that gives the graph but not the numbers - and it does not seem to do that. Also, in several of the pictures, there is no icon for it - it appears to be just a menu item.

be sure that you have the latest version, there are options to remove the icon from the dock and to have numbers and graphs in the menubar in my version (2.2b1 )

Yup, you can see it in the tasklist at the bottom of the screen. I'm not enamored with that skin, and frown on themes in general, but the stock black XMMS skin is just too bloody hard to see and use well. So Aqua skin it is. The skin is Winamp_X_XMMS_1.01, btw. You can get it here.

You seem to have Framemaker running under X11. Any hints on setting up my mac so that I can display Frame running on our solaris box at work onto my mac in XFree42?

Here's mine from my new job (which I just started today!).

<a href="http://www.codetek.com/graphics/virtualscreen.jpg" target="_blank"> <img src="http://www.codetek.com/graphics/virtualss.jpg" alt=" - " /></a> (Click for larger version)

I was beta testing our new app, CodeTek Virtual Desktop: a pager application that allows you to have multiple virtual desktops (up to 100). The pager is in the lower right of the shot. I made a screen capture for the website and I thought that I'd share it here, too.

(By the way, if you want to help by beta testing this app, go <a href="http://www.codetek.com/php/betamac.php" target="_blank">here</a> for now. We'll have it on VersionTracker tomorrow.)
Software Architect, CodeTek Studios, Inc.

I just pasted an ls in the browser. I edited the posting so the file list is displayed better.

To build a url, take the IP, add /Users/me/Pictures/DesktopPics/Girls/ and then add a file name from the list.

Hey Mac Guru,

what is that temperature display all about in the header line (82)? Is there an utility to monitor the heat of the CPU? And how did you modify the header, so it looks like a white tube (so much better than the bar)

TIA, Pat

That temperature is there because of WeatherPop. It displays local weather conditions and temps. You can get it <a href="http://www.versiontracker.com/moreinfo.fcgi?id=14483&db=mac" target="_blank">here</a>.

As for the Menu bar, I'm using the Sosumi Theme. You can get it at pretty much ANY theme related site for OS X.

And batman, unless your name is James, I don't know if you'd want it... I had a guy write my name in chinese (and I hope he was accurate) then I translated the ink to the desktop picture.
