Hi all. I'm about to make a triumphant return to the One True Platform after a brief hiatus, and was wondering if anyone had any experiences with KingMax RAM in recent-model PowerBooks. I'm looking at getting a 12".

I can tell from the archives that Crucial is preferred, but their policies to Canada conflict somewhat with my wallet. So... is KingMax any good?

Thanks.

Ha! Funny. I just picked up and installed a 512MB KingMax from Canada Computers ($150+ tax) - works great. KingMax actually says their ram is compatible with powerbooks. Make sure you buy the DDR333 or PC2700 200pin SO_DIMM, not the 266 one.

You can bring your PB to the store, if you want, to install it there to ensure compatibility.

Sounds perfect. Thanks!

That is, of course, the same store I was planning on going to. Now, if only payday would get here faster so I could order the darned thing...

Thanks for the heads up.. I was wondering about that too. It's always good to hear from Apple users in Toronto

Cheers

I found a link at KingMax that states its compatibility.
