I have an early 10 Gb iPod. Is this a clickable wheel? What is the difference between the clickable and the non-clickable? Just curious. Was looking at some refurbs and they are described as clickable or not.
Thanks,
Lou

The click-wheel iPod has the buttons (Play, Menu, Forward, Reverse) on the wheel itself. The previous versions (non click-wheel) have a wheel and then they have 4 buttons either above the wheel or circling around the wheel.

clickwheel ipods have longer battery life as well as being considered the 4th generation ipod, where as the non click wheel ipod is considered the 3rd gen. 4th gen ipods can also be powered by usb 2.0 as well, 3rd gen cannot. i personally think the 3rd gen ipod is the best looking ipod to date because of its all white exterior, but that new nano is pretty damn nice.

The benefit to a clickable wheel is that you can't accidentally brush a button and turn it on. I turn my 3G iPod on all the time unless I use the "hold" switch. On my new nano, I actually have to push one of the buttons on the click wheel (unless I hit the center button).

And it's also a pain in the ass because if you try to shove your hand in your pocket to pause it or skip to the next song, it's practically impossible not to change the volume in the process on the newer ones.
