I need to make a Christmas present CD of some Jim Reeves songs and other songs of that era for a friend. He loves "He'll Have to Leave" (Put your lips a little closer) Maybe some Patsy Cline... "I Fall to Pieces"- What are some good ballads or songs from the 50s and 60s that would fit?
Buddy Holly? Big Bopper? Everyone who died in various plane crashes?

I just saw the request. I'll start workin on it.
Is he ONLY C&W oriented or does he also like other genres of music?
I gather your friend is over 50 y/o. Focusing on those other musical artists who also died in plane crashes would be a macabre constant reminder of your friends' own mortality. That theme might best be discussed at the right time rather than being a constant reminder on a CD from you, I think. Although it IS a fascinating subject to discuss and if it were me I would just get a list of those musical victims of bad landings and play their songs when you are both feeling especially ghoully.
