Force iPhone to check for new update

I'm trying to update an iPhone (not mine) to iOS 7, and it refuses. The iPhone has downloaded iOS 7.0.2 all on its own, but that version can no longer be installed because Apple seems to have stopped signing it. I need to get it to forget about 7.0.2 and just download 7.0.4, please. Is there anyway I can force it to do that?

The new Mac Pro has up to 30 MB of cache inside the processor itself. That's more than the HD in my first Mac. Somehow I'm still running out of space.

Yes, obviously I could do that, but is there a way to do the updating without a PC? In this case I could bring my MBA to do the updating next time, but since the vast majority of users now use OTA updates, it seems there should be a way to do this.

While I agree that there should be a way to skip an update and go to the next one, I don't know that "the vast majority of users" do their updates without syncing with a computer. I don't. I've had an issue or two with minor upgrades, enough that I want a good backup before I commit to an upgrade of any kind.
