Citi/AAdvantage Rewards Card --> good/bad?

I am looking into a rewards card and the Citi AAdvantage card is looking like the best deal out right now for miles.
What has your experience been with this or any rewards card?

I'm a Amex-Delta Skymiles fan.
Got a Citi-AAdvantage as a backup though.

I use it.. and enjoy it. One of the perks of my AAdvantage is that they enrolled me in a pilot program with the TSA. I'm registered with them and now can bypass the line for metal detectors. I still have to go through the detectors, but I don't have to wait in line - just walk right up and use one of two biometric readers (eye or finger).
Also, AA has a program where you can obtain temporary elevated status (i.e. gold) without having the mileage. While this is only for 6 months, I don't think there is a limit so you can simply reapply. My company did this for me, but I understand its open for anyone - so you may want to do a search for it.
My only grip is that their bonus miles for gold/platinum memebers are not as good as United's.

American Express Rewards Card
You get double points for gas, groceries, and many other basic things. As a result, I'll be flying free to South America this summer despite the fact I've spent nowhere near the amount of money it normally takes to accumulate points for a free ticket. Also, it doesn't lock you into a single carrier. You can transfer your points into miles for most major airlines (except American).

There is an annual fee, but that's standard for most frequent flier cards. Beyond that, there are no "program fees." You get points and you use them for stuff. It's that simple.
