I've been tasked with making some icons, the problem being, it takes ages to make all the different bit depths. What methods do people use for making the alternate bit depths?

do you guys load up the 256 colour palette into photoshop and then tweak for hours? or do you just use iconfactory's default colour reduction method?

do people even really bother fixing the 256 / 16 versions of there icons?

what about alpha channels on the 256 colour versions? would you typically worry about these as well on the lower depths?

Cheers

I would say that so few people use anything but the highest bit depth, it's not necessary to put much work into making other ones. Unless, of course, you are making it for old macs for some reason.
