Suggestion: pure ui forum

I would like to suggest a forum which is entirely ui-oriented, as discussed in this thread.
There's the »gui customization forum«, which emphasis lies on graphics. I miss a place where pure user interface matters can be discussed, free from »cool widgets and breath-taking themes«.
I'm willing to moderate, should that be the case.

I'd like to see such a thing myself: a place where UI concepts, rather than actual user interfaces (such as themes) can be discussed.

I'm for it only if a degree in human interaction and/or design is required to post there, because otherwise people will just be either a) talking out their asses, or b) parroting Bruce Tognazzini or somebody along those lines. I don't think everyday folks need a forum dedicated to UI talk. If you have an issue with the UI of something specific, you can bring it up in the appropriate forum.
Naturally, you know, that's me.

I am in favor of such a forum. Sounds like a good idea.
@Chuckit: the UI fights/discussions will not be cluttering up the technical forums if there is a UI forum. I think that would be a good idea.
The technical discussions should strive to be on the level of the Tech/Ops forum at Airliners.Net IMO.

Perhaps as a subforum.
Adding a forum is sort of a big deal — it adds more work to the everyday admin stuff, so we don't add them on a whim. But we'll discuss it and see where it goes.

This sounds interesting to me, but I also question what kind of content and quality such a (sub)forum would have.

That's about the opposite of what I'm looking for. I miss a GUI forum on a higher, academic level, which discussions focus on usability rather than threads of "looks cool" and "check out my AWESOME THEME OF DEATH".

You might have more luck in the Ars Technica forums. They just recently posted an article on the history of the GUI.

I can tell you that a forum for that narrow a topic is not gonna happen (despite usability being one of my areas of interest). I can also tell you that the "ooh this theme r0x0rz" threads will always be more numerous than thoughtful, intellectual discussions of usability topics. But it might not be unreasonable to make the GUI customization forum's title more broad such as to include the usability discussions.
