i just imported an audiobook which arrived in itunes>itunes music folder as 'unknown artist' i changed the name of the folder and i changed each of the track names so id recognise them. then i dragged the folder over the library symbol in itunes thinking the folder and files would stay where they were, and a link be created so i could play them through itunes. the folder and files disappeared and i couldnt find them in itunes - or anywhere else - i did a search. did i put the files into itunes by the wrong method? what went wrong/ where might the files be?

I'm not sure why your files disappeared, but you shouldn't need to drag the folder onto iTunes again. Just make sure iTunes is running when you change the names in the Finder. iTunes will pick up the changes. You also need to change the tags within iTunes.
