I've ordered it as a CTO at the Apple Store-with a ship date of @10/10 or sooner. I've got time to change-if there are enough 'iodas' from my bretheren.

Are you interested in games or other intensive 3D apps (or you have a big multi-monitor setup)?

If so, keep that Radeon 9800 Pro in there!

If you're just going to be a casual gamer or otherwise don't really need raw 3D performance, the 9600 Pro should be fine.

A movie was shown at a Macworld, and Carmack said it was coming to the Mac. It's scheduled to be released for the Mac. So why wouldn't it come to the Mac?

that's awesome. Do you have a link to this? I wasn't aware it was ever announced, but gives me just another reason to get the G5

Yeah, snag a G5.

"The article is definitely a good read for those excited about this game. id has noted several times in the past that Doom 3 will come to the Mac, but only for users running Mac OS X."

that's reassuring, I just hope nothing has changed their mind since that article is over 3 years old. You'd think with the G5, it would only stregthen their resolve to port it.

And while you're waiting, why not continue to wait for the next card after that? I'm sure they'll only get better!

Seriously, waiting 6 months in the computer world is waiting an eternity. If you're ready to buy now, buy what you want. I ordered the 9800 Pro and can always upgrade later for the next best thing if I want.
