How do you erase with Illustrator?

There's no eraser tool, so how do you do it? Also, the program fails to organize things in layers like Photoshop, so it makes that difficult too.

You can't use illustrator like photoshop, I know that sounds smartmouthed, but that's the problem most people have with it. You have to think a lot more like a problem solver.

Now, you would make a shape and then layer another shape over it, then you would subtract the top shape from the bottom shape by using the pathfinder. Or you would draw it with a tablet and pen.

Yes, you can work with layers too. They are more like sets like in InDesign than in Photoshop.

Thanks. It's just that I've been asking many questions about Illustrator recently because I have used Photoshop so much more and my mentality hasn't changed.

It was really tough for me too! Big change in thinking is required. Cool program though, and worth your time to really learn it!
