According to Apple's iOS15 preview page (scroll to the bottom), my trusty 6s is still supported. Woot! That's, what, 6 years of OS support? It won't get all the nifty new features (those that require an A12 bionic chip) but it gets everything I need. I'll gladly take it, knowing that iOS15 will likely be the last OS to run on my trusty 6s.

Apple final iOS updates scare me. iOS 9 makes an iPad 2 worthless. iOS 12 on my Mini is usable, but molasses slow.
(I may not have remembered the numbers right)

My dad has my old 6, so he'll be out of luck as far as upgrades go.
Looks like the Watch OS 8 supports all devices that 7 supported, so we're good on that front.

Weird. My iPad Air was EOLed at iOS 12.5.3 and it chugs along just fine.

That’s good to hear!
My examples are pretty ancient, so maybe they’ve seen the error of their ways.
Past my fleet of iPad 2s and my Mini, the next oldest iDevice I have is a 1st gen iPad Pro, which is still fine after 6 years.

The iPad Pro has been around for six years? Man, I feel really old right now.
I mean, yeah, I am old, but still.

I used to think this, but acclimated to the larger size.
The SE form factor seems hopelessly cramped now.
Also, since I’m a sweaty MFer, FaceID >>>>>> TouchID.

Luckily for me, I can’t stand headphones.

I bit the proverbial bullet a couple of years ago and bought a Lightning headphone adapter. When I fly, I NEED something to overcome the combination of tinnitus and the low air pressure/engine noise background in the cabin. Sadly, this was at Orlando’s airport, so all of my options came with one of another headphone, ear bud, etc. But that means I have a decent set of buds that will work with my phone or my iPad no matter what.
I’m happy sticking with my iPhone 8; not much bigger than the 6 so the thumb ergonomics Famous mentions are there, big enough screen to read without feeling like I got cheated on a tablet, and so on.
Since I have a Watch 6, I’m probably supported for quite a while. I’m sort of looking forward to some of the new WatchOS features, too.

I have a few of those for emergencies, but I don’t think I’ve ever actually used one.
I would on a flight, but the last flight I took was before the iPhone was invented, let alone Lightning.

Good lord. And I thought I was a highly-infrequent flyer.

I am glad to hear, and I think rather than updating my iPhone 7 this year, I’ll get my first Apple Watch instead. A six-year run for a phone is not bad IMHO.

I bought several of those lighting/earphone adapters (my car, SO car, purse, spare) but still find it a pita. I don't use headphones that much but connecting to the car audio is nice for trips etc.

Another scenario I can luckily skate past. Van has a usb jack.
I still end up with extra crap in the car, though. Micro USB cable for someone with Android, and a 3.5mm cable for emergency use (it has a 3.5mm jack too).
