If they had promoted Islam, I bet Kevin, Doofy, and the entire J-Squad would be up in arms about how they're anti-American, terrorist loving, homosexual, Fench-Canadian, tree hugging, fuzzy brained, Bush bashing, liberal Democrats.

That's not even worthy of a Strawman award.
I have no problem with followers of Islam, as long as they aren't strapping bombs to their children or electing terrorist groups as their leaders.

At least that's the way you'd hope that we in the "J-Squad" would respond.
In fact, I doubt any of us would've even cared. Certainly not enough to come onto MacNN and scream, "HOW DARE THEY! JESUS-LOVERS! EWWW!!! I'M NEVER GOING BACK!"

You keep saying that, then go back to blaming Islam in general.

I hadn't considered you apart of the J-Squad. It's usually Kevin, MacNStein, and Doofy. Don't have to worry about Doofy since he's the only one on my ignore. As to your latter statement, yes, they would respond that fashion. They constantly do.

Same instance.
Of course it's not that the owner's a personal Christian. It's the way he's promoting it. Though I'm certainly not boycotting the site, I think most would agree it would be unprofessional for such a site with an intro page saying "Homosexuality, the only path to paradise" or some crap like that, right?

Seriously, if such a thing actually bothers you, you must have little worries in your life.
Not only because said thing put you off. But 6 months later you make a thread about it as if it happened yesterday.
Sounds like conviction to me.

I use Macupdate because I think it does a fine job of listing updates to Mac software. The original poster suffers from the inability to respect views that differ from his own, in addition to being terribly offended by anything and everything religious.

I have the macupdate RSS feed because it gives a short description of the app (opposed to the title only Version Tracker one) and I use the App Update widget; which is really neat.

^^^ I'm trying to reduce my menu items. I have Connect360, Weather, and then just the usual OS X stuff.
P.S. Spliff, I'm not an anti-theist either. In fact I have been known to donate to religious organizations, when the work they do seems good to me, and they don't try to ram things down people's throats. I do dislike religious zealots though.
For example, World Vision is a pretty good Christian charity AFAIK. I do admit however that I do tend to donate to organizations like Foster Parents Plan more often.

Oh man, I LOVE menubar items. I wish I could fit more onto my screen. It's the closest thing to the Control Strip in OS 9.

The owner is an idiot, but they do offer a pretty decent software update service…meh, doesn't really bug me that much.
I remember their lame-ass 'sci-fi jeebus' ad from a while ago. What asshattry…and of course dumbfire was there to defend them.

They must have changed it back to that behavior. Some time ago they made it where if you clicked the file size to download from the main page, it would take you to another page with the actual download link. Quite annoying. After that I started using MacUpdate nearly exclusively. Good to hear they have changed that "feature" back to its original behavior though.
