Annoying Safari 4.0 window behavior

Anyone know how to prevent Safari from automatically switching to windows that refresh themselves? Some webpages refresh automatically whenever a certain amount of time has passed, and if such a page is in the background it will be moved to the front automatically... It really drives me nuts! It's definitely a new "feature" in Safari 4.0 as in the old days, pages just refreshed in the background.
Sorry if this has been discussed elsewhere, but a search didn't come up with anything

I think you just go into Safari Prefs, Security tab, and disable JavaScript.

Ten years or so that might have been a viable option, but today, not so much.. I was hoping for something more like a hidden option or something..
Btw, this didn't work:
defaults write com.apple.Safari DebugSafari4IncludeAnnoyingWindowSwitch -bool NO

My guess is that this isn't a Safari problem, but the page you're looking at is programmed (scripted) that way. Have you tried it in other browsers?
