Yeah, some good scenes in the movie. Overall there was a good movie in there somewhere but it didn't make it out.

I'm a little "meh" myself.
Firth was so good, and the kid was just an annoying shit.
And, unlike the kid, I've seen La Femme Nikita, so the mind**** training is a little played out.
And then the church... loved that scene. Had seen it on its own beforehand.
Best scene in the movie, but also felt out of place somehow.

It really is Kill Bill meets Moonraker, which makes it a shame a couple cylinders aren't firing properly.

Moonraker? Can't say I've seen it in more than 20 years, but I don't have a good opinion of it.

It's crazy how each movie has to outdo previous ones to retain shock value. I remember the building scene in the Matrix was pretty gnarly but the church one here takes the cake. Imagine what scenes will be like 20 years from now...

I'm picking Moonraker because it was the one closest to being self parody.
It's Kill Bill in the Moonraker universe. You know, the type of universe where stealing six Space Shuttles makes total sense.

That was one of the problems with View to a Kill. It couldn't top Moonraker in the silly department.
I kinda liked they hit the reset with Dalton, who I think (like Lazenby) tried to be Bond, rather than a pimped-up version of themselves, which is what you got with Connery, Moore, and Brosnan.
Haven't seen a Craig vehicle yet.

The heads were pretty much in line with tie cut in half thing from the beginning. Lots of the movie felt like a grown up Spy Kids.
But yes the final final scene. Horrendously misjudged.

Not nearly the film Kick Ass was but better then Kick Ass 2. A lot better. I didn't find eggs that annoying but Firth was sublime.

I got to the end being more aware of my "how did this get made the way it has been?" rather than how good it was, then I spotted the names of a couple of 2000AD regulars in the credits listed as creators and it all made considerably more sense.
Good fun though, and fairly typical of the sort of Bond parody I'd expect in an issue of 2000AD.

I didn't have a problem with it, just didn't really fit in with the style of the rest of the movie. I'm guessing it fitted in with the style of the graphic novel or whatever it was based on.

The concept fits. It's a lampoon of the Bond movies, which have often ended with him banging that film's heroine in an unlikely situation (e.g. Moonraker, where its in zero-g).
The problem was it was a really weak idea. The setup was a groaner, too.

Also...
I felt it tripped in a place where the later Star Trek vehicles would a lot. The whole episode would be about the dangers of someone violating the Prime Directive, and the big twist at the end would be it was a good idea to violate it all along.
The training was like this. It's designed to make you into a murderous psychopath when, big twist... we actually don't want murderous psychopaths.

It just felt a bit unnecessary to the plot. It wasn't organic.

I felt the whole training portion (i.e. one-third of the whole movie), only functioned to setup the schmuck kid getting fired.
However, maybe you're talking about the butt.

I am. But also the whole grateful princess bit. He was going to save the world anyway, it would have fit better if he'd been portrayed as more of a ladies man earlier on. Or as the opposite so the motivation might have helped.

I tried watching it on the airplane last week, got about 45 minutes in and couldn't finish it, watched 30 Rock reruns instead.
Once they started training and dove right into the boring, tired teenager drama with snobby rich kids making fun of poor kids and the sympathetic female character...I couldn't do it. It felt too much like a grown up Spy Kids (nice, Doc HM) meant to appeal to same terrible demographic as Divergent or Maze Runner than an actual action movie.

Exactly.
Since this movie was my suggestion, when the training scenes came on I felt embarrassed for the choice.
But wait... 45 minutes... You missed the church scene.
Knock yourself out. Excessively NSFW, and all the better for it (sorry for the Korean, takedowns don'tcha know).
Edit: TAKEDOWN!

The best part of seeing the movie was releasing me to watch this scene a half-dozen times in a row.

Since one of the Kingsmens' skills is knowing fine liquor, part of the training montage should have been them getting ********d from too many samples.
Every single night.
Edit: shit faced... shitfac ed... ********d... sure thing Señor Sensor.

That's the full movie, as supported by a Kickstarter. They're in talks about making a full-length feature inspired by this, but the YouTube is the real, official, full thing.

Not to overlook the "Manners maketh man" scene. Also cool because it takes down Firth's Bridget Jones persona straight away.
The retread by Eggsy at the end simply reinforces how damn cool Firth is.

There's talk of a sequel, and it appears they realize the butter is on the Colin Firth side of the toast.

Recently saw on DVD. Enjoyed it a lot, helloooo colin firth. Even the training bit, although I suspected trickery the minute they introduced the pups. The kid didn't bother me, kind of liked him, and the other female operative. Sam Jackson playing a hep Zuckerberg... semi annoying? but also heh. The end bit was a recognized rip on Bond endings, but it was a groaner. Otherwise this film did not set off any sexist alerts that weren't also genre-parody.
A sequel? not without Firth... which could be difficult, considering the Church scene. AFAICT, he was playing as his actual age, which makes a prequel also difficult.

Android Colin Firth.
Cloning. (as long as it doesn't involve creepy retro-unaging Firth like Tommy Lee Jones in MIBIII)
Dream flashbacks.

We do, but in a movie with overtop violence, age is what violates your suspension of disbelief?
