So I've got my entire OS X setup how I like it cloned onto an external FireWire HD using Carbon Copy Cloner...now, when my new PowerMac arrives, I want to immediaitely import that clone onto it's hard drive: the question is, how do I do this?

Same way you cloned it onto your External HD using CCC...except this time, you'll be cloning the External HD onto your new PowerMac HD...

Thanks, but I mean, I need details.

Like, do I boot up my new Mac holding "T" for Target Disk Mode?

Do I boot up normally, install CCC onto the new Mac, and then use that program to import the clone in?

Boot off your External FW HD and then use CCC to clone it over to your new PowerMac HD...

Hi

I want to do pretty much the same thing as you outline in this thread. I'm getting a new iMac in a week and want to clone my startup disk (external firewire) to the new machine. Can you tell me how you got on transferring files so that the new internal drive boots exactly as the old one?

Your advice would be appreciated.

Regards

Peter
