Doubtless a lot of you have seen my model rocket threads.
http://www.space-rockets.com/arsanews.html
According to this article at the ARSA UPS (and FedEx is rumored too) is no longer going to ship Class 1 Hazmat items because of the Homeland Security Act. Class 1 includes model rocket engines.
This could mean huge ramifications for the model rocket industry and could quite possibly run it into near extinction.
Assuming model rockets are made as an exception, you can expect the already $7 and $8 3 packs of rocket engines to jump to something like $10 an engine, or $30 a pack if Estes has to do their own shipping.

It is... super models with solid-fuel rocket boosters.

I'm pretty sure USPS won't ship them; I don't think they have in a long time. Airborne, I don't know about.

They tend to follow the same rules as the other carriers, especially if this is a mandate handed down from government regulatory agencies.

We'll end up having to go to native reservations for rocket engines...

Same here. It's been a long time since I did anything with model rockets, but I always loved it, and I've often wished I had the time to get back into it.

Hrm, this sucks. I never found my model rocket after it's 3rd flight. I hope it's happy in rocket heaven, blasting about, or whatever rockets enjoy. Perhaps they don't even like being sent into the air. Scared of heights maybe.

When I clicked on this post, I said to myself, bet it's because of bush and his terrorism paranoia.
Yep. Knew it.
Next, I won't be able to buy plastic models of planes because they are warplanes and may make me want to steal a real one and do something terroristic.
