Classic 9? Did you update to the Carbon version?

Update to the latest version of Starcraft on the Mac and the PC. Then you don't have to use Classic on the Mac. To play against PC users on a LAN, use "UDP/IP" instead of "IPX". This option will be available on PC and Mac after updating.
