well I haven't thrown it out the window just yet. I'll see if I can fix it later. But for now, what type of nonApple monitor can I use right out of the box.

Here's what I've got, a dual 450 using a Rage128 Pro ATI card.
I'm looking for at least 17" LCD flat panel. Again nonApple monitor.

I'm waiting to buy a new Mac system, complete with a new monitor. So thats the reason I'm just interested in keeping the old dual 450 chugging along.

Any monitor you want, pretty much. No Mac has ever required that you use an Apple-branded display. Beginning with the Blue and White G3 Power Macs (which predate your G4), all Macs have at least one industry-standard display connector (VGA in some, DVI in others).
