Has anyone any experience with WoW on a new 12inch 1.5 ghz powerbook ?

Curious because I am looking at buying one. Wow seems like it's the only game i would play, that I can't buy for my xbox.

Any feedback on performance ? playability ?

Is it plausible for me to think I could hook a 12 inch PB to my Toshiba 42 inch projection TV to play WoW ?

Please and Thanks for any help.

I just bought a 12 inch 1.5GHz G4 PB, and am installing WoW on it now. I'll let you know what my experiences are.

K, just got through my first play session. With all the details set to low, etc. at 1024x768, I seem to get around 15 fps in action and combat, and walking around the newbie area, hunting kobolds, etc. At 800x600 it's a bit better, around 20-25fps.

Not great I guess, but it definitely seems playable.

For any other PB12 inch owners with the 1.5GHz, does this sound about right, or are there other settings I could try?

Also, I've heard RAM helps...... I'm playing this with just the 512 megs of stock RAM.

Don't get your hopes up when get to places like Ironforge. It'll run real bad in there around the auction house and bank. Even my dual 1ghz with 1.25GB RAM and a Radeon 9800 struggles. The major limitation laptops have with the game are the slow hard drives.

On my 1.33ghz 15" (64 MB vram) it runs pretty well on the lowest settings. It only bogs down in large fights or while I'm flying (and then it doesn't matter). I do try to stay away from Ironforge as much as possible when playing on my Powerbook.

Even my Pentium 4 3.6 with a X700 lags extremely bad in Ironforge.

What graphics card does the 12" come with? I was under the impression it was the 9600. My Powerbook with a 9600 handles WoW great.

The 12" come with a NVIDIA GeForce FX Go5200. It runs WoW decently. I'm getting around 10-20 fps with the settings at low.

My 12" iBook G4 can play WoW (barely), so the 12" should be able to no problem.

How much better would WoW play with one of the 15 inch powerbooks with the 64 meg Radeon Mobility 9700?

I've been sort of thinking of returning my 12 incher for a 15 inch model, but I'm kind of reluctant since I'd have to pay the 10% restocking fee (I'm not sure if it would be better to try and sell the PowerBook to someone then return it........... I was thinking I would have to take a similar 10% loss if I sold it anyway). I do get an educational discount, so the cheapest 15 inch model is $1799 for me, plus I'd sort of have to factor in the $150 or so restocking fee if I returned my 12 inch PB.

When you're in IF it's not your computer's fualt, it's their servers. I have yet to see anyone that wasn't lagging to death in IF on a medium to high pop server. I don't have any problems with all my settings up (besides distance which is all the way down) in any other area but If. It plays fluidly everywhere else. I want to install it on my PC when I get home from school. The 2.3ghz overclocked Athlon w/ a gig of ram and an oc'ed 9800pro 128mb should make it fly (but then again windows will cause it to crash every 50 seconds... whats the use!)...

Anyway... wouldn't worry... should play nice on a 12" too... just put the distance setting all the way down...

Like I mentioned before my 15" 1.33ghz (768 MB RAM and 64 MB VRAM) runs it well enough to play the game without too much frustration. There are certain situations you will want to avoid as much as possible like large scale raids and Ironforge. And unless Blizzard works a miracle with the upcoming battlegrounds feature, you will probably not want to go there unless you enjoy slideshows like my grandpa does.
