I set up Messages for the first time so that I can text from my computer.
Soon after, but not immediately after, I got a message that said,
Email Address Added to "iMac12,3"
"iMac12,3 is now using [my email here] for iMessage"
I changed a few of the above numbers in case it's not something I should post online but that was the message.
I received it three times.
It also went to my wife's phone.
What is this "iMac12,3" ? Assuming it is my iMac, why didn't it use my user name?
Possibly important: I didn't register my iMac with Apple until after this.
Is that normal?
I suppose it could be Apple letting me know that my Mac is now configured for Messages but the unfamiliar iMac12,3 caused me a little concern.
It's important to be hypervigilant about online security these days.
