Or, the movie in which Leonardo earns my respect.
The movie was ... "real". the graphic violence is similar to the stuff i saw in "City of God". I was expecting a rather shallow assortment of characters with a typical action screenplay/script. i was surprised.
The story was solid. the script was great, and the performances were awesome. Leonardo had a great role/character, and he played it amazingly. The character, script and accent he had to put on (South African/Zimbabwean) aside, his acting was amazing.... 10 minutes into the movie and it didnt occor to me that he was "Leonardo".
If you havent seen this movie check it out, it was definately worth watching. Be forewarned, it is preety graphic.
Cheers

It was a really good movie, I agree.
I was born in Zimbabwe and grew up (until around 21) in South Africa. I have to admit that Leonardo's accent in the movie is really good. The only thing I didn't like was that he used a lot of different styles of slang. It showed that they did their homework on the accent, but people generally don't use different groups of people's slang. They're in a group and generally use that slang, not everyone else's included.
A small thing, but it bothered me a little.
Arnold Vosloo, who acted as Leonardo's Colonel, is South African. Maybe he gave him accent tips.
All in all, I suggest the movie, it was good.

I'm glad you like this movie, I've been wanting to see it but all my friends think it looks to Hollywoody. I am surprised it took you up until now to appreciate Leonardo, I think he is an incredible actor, even in the crap movies he's done, he can at least play his character very well.

Yeah, it's a much better movie than you'd expect going in. My friend talked me into reluctantly going to see it with her, but I wound up really enjoying it. It's an interesting issue to make a movie about, too.

Yeah, I watched the movie last night. It's one of the best movies I've seen so far. It's really good. The end was kind of sad !

I wonder if Jennifer Connelly's role is too small to not be featured on the movie poster.

It's not that small, but those two are the main characters.

Yeah, I saw it. I really enjoyed it. Definitely a solid movie with some moral undertones, but those don't get in the way on some great action as well!
Downside: no ass to ass. That is all.
