More Lion "resume" issues!

I don't think Lion's annoying feature to automatically re-open applications is anything new now. Unchecking "Restore windows" in general preferences and "Reopen windows when logging back in" helps quite a bit. But there are still times when Lion surprises me by randomly activating its resume feature in very strange ways! Here are two examples:
1. One time after waking up from sleep, it reopened a text file I chose not to save almost a week ago!
2. I double-clicked a zip file to extract a movie (the only file in the zip file), it did that but at the same time it also reopened a picture file I viewed in Xee two days ago!
I almost had a heart attack when these things happened. I mean, if I bring my MacBook to work, who knows when Lion is going to embarrass me big time!
Did those happen to you, too? What is going on? Is there a more reliable way to disable the resume thing? Thanks!

I never shut down my MacBook so no, it never happens to me. Of course, I don't view "embarrassing" things on my MacBook either - since it's used in a work environment.
My best recommendation is to stop shutting down your MacBook. Sleep it instead. You could also keep a separate account for personal and work.

Why would it embarass your? What kind of movies are distributed in zip archives? If I were you I'd put all the things that could embarass me in an encrypted DMG file (then delete the files from your computer) and eject the DMG. Be sure your DMG works before you delete the originals...but are versions of files/documents kept in some OSX cache or temp folder?

Lol, the "embarrassing" part isn't exactly the highlight of my question. It's just some old videos I took that I archived in zip format a while ago. The image I viewed is a picture of me and my girlfriend. The text file is a small rant about a trip. Nothing ultra sensitive but I would still consider it "embarrassing" if these personal stuff pops up when I try to demonstrate my work.
But I can imagine it could get much worse. If clicking on a zip file could reopen a image from days ago, then there's no guarantee that it won't reopen the porn you might have watched a week ago when opening a spreadsheet. And reopening an old text file after waking up from sleep mode? How do you even explain that? I only encountered these two strange situations in almost a month, but if I don't understand what is going on I'm just worried that it'll come back and haunt me. Again, this happened with "Restore windows" unchecked.
