I mean, yeah, I see the processor names, but what's with the (0) stuff?

68040, 601, 603, 603e, are various processors that Apple has used from about 1991 to the present (970 is the G5). There's got to be some reason why they have replaced all the zeros with (0), but my little brain can't figure it out...
