I think it looks fine, if a bit boring. One big advantage it has over many themes is the fact that it exists, and you can actually download and use it.

Too much contrast? Aqua has more contrast between buttons and background (e.g. blue vs. white) while this one is black on charcoal.

besides, i don't see much in the way of themes originating from either of you.

I was only commenting on the contrast issue...nothing more. I personally do not think dark themes are usable.
