I REALLY love Aqua extreme, i think the new metal style on safari and the finder windows is just amazing. But does anyone know if there's a version that doesn't f*ck with unified windows? Mail, Adium etc all look awful. At the moment i'm having to install the package version of it, then use ShapeShifter to selectively exclude all apps that use the unified theme so they'll come out properly.

If you try the installer version, you may not run into those problems--it gives you a way to verify if it's a theme or Shapeshifter issue.
