I'm addicted to these forums and need to be forcibly removed from them because they are interfering with my productivity. Is there any way that I or somebody else can somehow temporarily ban me for a month? I'd like to be sure that I can get back in after a month though, or earlier in case I need to ask some really important question.

OK, I've come up with an idea on how to do this to myself without involving any admins...

I could generate a random, uber-complicated password that would be impossible for me to instantly memorize and paste it into the source code of a computer program. This program, when run, would connect to an NTP server (most likely time.apple.com) and check the date. If it's past that certain date it would display the password, otherwise it would tell me to f*ck off. Then, to make the whole situation even more foolproof, I'd delete the source code to the program so that I couldn't view the password.

Eh? It's just crazy enough to work!

How about just showing some self-restraint, if macnn is affecting your productivity then its up to you to rectifiy the situation. Be responsible for your own actions.

Thanks! If MacNN supports such long passwords then I'll definitely use this.

Awww he misses me... I'm not sure what to make of this post...

Sorry you ol' nazi you, but the first step one must take is admitting that he or she has a problem. The next step is going to extreme lengths to correct it. I've got work to do and arguing with the lunatics in the war lounge won't help me get it done.

I'll stick around until I get Kevin's replies though... see where that goes...

That sounds a lot like the way I handle problems. Instead of a gradual adjustment, I prefer to simply nuke the problem into a barren glassy crater. Used to really annoy my wife back when I was married. She'd say something like, "The car is out of gas again!"
And I'd solve the problem by selling the car. I mean, that car was never out of gas again, as far as I know.

Needless to say, she wouldn't tell me when the cat peed on the floor.

if you want, i can simply ban you from the political lounge. i've done that for quite a few people who had problems quitting it of their own free will.
