Facebook Messenger for iOS has
received an update, offering new instant video sending and a "Big Likes" feature. Facebook Messenger allows users to access their Facebook messages without opening Facebook, and have conversations with friends that include stickers, private photo sending, group conversations and more.
In v6.0, users can now shoot and play 15-second video messages from one's device camera, and can do so within the app. For showing that one really likes something, users can now press and hold to send an even bigger thumbs up graphic. Facebook Messenger is free to download, and is available for devices running iOS 6.0 or later.
Medical equipment provider iHealth launches portable blood glucose monitor
Medical device company iHealth Lab has announced the launch of the
iHealth Align, a mobile blood glucose monitor for diabetes management. The device plugs directly into an iOS (or Android) device, and can display and store readings using the iHealth Glugo-Smart app. The app features management tools for tracking insulin, and offers information cloud syncing and sharing tools. Displaying readings on a phone screen allows the monitoring device to be roughly the size of a quarter.
The company has also announced lowering the price of their testing strips, as to enable users to avoid claiming the product with their insurance coverage. This "Simple Savings" program will also incorporate an option in the near future to automate test strip replenishment through the iHealth Gluco-Smart mobile app. Available for pre-order for $17, the iHealth Align includes a lancing device and four colorful protective cases. The iHealth test strips are now priced at $12.50 per vial of 50 strips.
