The gray buttons on a gray background is not as visually pleasing IMO. I much prefer the white buttons on a gray background that we have now. Better contrast. Easier to see.
In fact, I preferred the white buttons on the bottom of the iTunes window as well.
White on gray just stands out more IMO.

By the way, you can now finally install preference panes by simply double-clicking them. System Preferences then automatically copies it to the specified liocation (Users Library or System Library)
Auto-Install PrefPanes
What about screen savers? Can you do the same with screen savers?

Is there any easy way to remove them? Can you simply drag them out of the Pref Pane window and "poof" them, or anything like that?
Just asking, because otherwise, I'm going to have to implement a "remove" function for my own pref pane...

Trash bug is still there for sure...
Apps seem to work better, especially those of an Adobe nature.
Terminal app creation is seamless and instant.
What else?

AddressBook definitely still crashes.
As does Backup and have had more than a few Safari crashes as well, a first with Panther.
Every third party app i've tried seems to work fine in this build...

The inner nested tab panels being darker than the parent tab panel is new, isn't it? I wonder if that's done manually, or a function of the control (How many would have to be nested to get the background to black? Would be a good way to prevent nesting them too deeply. )

cups printing rocks in panther!
In our local home network we have a cups print server with a HP LJ 5 connected. The cups printer is configured to broadcast to all hosts.
After the panther install, I wanted to print and all was there! A new menu Item in the printer selection dialog with the name "Shared Printers" appeared with the HP LJ 5 in it.....
The Printer is only there when I'm at my home. On other places the printer isn't there
In Jaguar I have had problems with our local cups printer.
Zero installation... really great!!!!

Those rounded, slightly darkened fields were introduced along with the new tab widgets, first seen in the WWDC build. I think they work nicely to visually differentiate different sections of a panel.
I wouldn't like to see more than *one* of those nested, though. Ick.
By the way, I wonder when the AHIG is going to be updated...? Guess it's on the to-do list...

Yes, but I thought that in screenshots prior to 7B28, when multiple tab panels were nested, the darkened tone of the child panel was the same as the darkened tone of the parent.
Do nested group boxes (which share the tab panel's look) get progressively darker the more you pile on?
Anyone have 7B28 and RealBasic to knock out a quick sample window?
(I'm a big fan of Panther's group boxes and tab panels, btw)

Anyone know if the iTunes can run correctly with an iPod attached?
One bug I was aware of caused iTunes to crash when trtrying to navigate an iPod library (it played it fine if the window was minimized, but as soon as it was expanded, it crashed).
Thanks for any info!

steve needs to get off the acid and come back to reality. or else, he should hire someone who understands something, anything, operating system design.

And to CharlesS's question: no, there is no way to remove prefpanes as far as I can tell.

I hope so, but in any case, "BDONKA DONK BUTT FUGLY" is the funniest description of metal ever.
FYI: I merged the two Panther 7B28 threads together. That's why there's only one now.

There's a "Previous Recipients" panel. I don't know if that was there before.

The integration of iChat and DVD player is cool. So is that "Add theater to Addressbook"
Small integration things like that, scattered about in all applications, is awesome!

If you were serious about DVD's you wouldn't be watching them on your computer anyway.

Agreed, and zachs, thanks for the picture!
Very cool to be leveraging the features of the compositor rather than hard-coding a flat color value to the control.

I often need to proof DVDs I author in Apple's DVD player because we author a lot of DVD-9s, and you can't burn a test disk of those.
I've had to tell people to ignore the wacky audio when viewing discs on the computers a couple of times now.

Well, lookie lookie!
Now, not that it's *really* the slightest bit your business, but:
a) my line is AUDIO. Not video. Note the little part where I was talking about live concert DVDs and soundtracks. Yes?
b) I have quite a bit invested into audio reproduction here, and frankly, I think you're out of your depth - and out of line - if you want to tell me what constitutes a "serious" system for my purposes.
c) My significant other just moved out and took the DVD player and large TV, and I won't be buying anytime soon.

Great! So you can look up yellow and white pages in the USA. After all this time in OS X I think Apple should get off their asses and provide some useful Sherlock channels to the rest of the world. They have promised Cinema listings, phone book and eBay for ages.
Forgive me if I don't get excited about another improvement I can't use because Apple UK / Europe are too lazy.
