I have a B&W G3 and installed four of these. However, only 512 is available.

what's the deal? I got these from a friend, so no biggie if they simply won't work.

They are probably too high a density for the machine to recognize.

Deal Ram lists 256MB DIMMS as around $59 each. The "probably not compatible" category and are only $43).

When that machine was designed, the memory controller was not designed to recognize the super-high density ram that eventually debuted a few years later.

The end result is only half the total memory is seen.

This happened to me with a PC133 512 chip as well. It only showed up as 256 on a slew of machines. Finally I managed to test it on a PC133 based machine and all 512 showed up. Turns out all the machines I tested it on were PC100 based.
