I havn't upgraded to 10.3.3, because of all the complaints that people have had on MacNN. The update seems to favor the G5's, more than anything. Do you suggest I hold off on updating my 1.25 gighz 15 inch powerbook?

I would upgrade it has some nice refinements for the Powerbook. Also it seems faster as well booting up and in Safari. Also they tweaked mail and updated that too. This is how 10.3 shoulda been. :-)

I've installed the update on my 15" 1.25 and I haven't experienced any problems. Boot times have gotten faster as a result.

I've been running the 10.3.3 update for the past 2 days on my 15" 1.25 with no problems. You should do it.

Absolutely no problems on my 15" TiBook. In fact, the install and disk optimization was much, much quicker on my PB than on my Cube.

I've heard 10.3.3 breaks the self-installed SuperDrive upgrade hack/mod.
Any reports on this and more specifically any workarounds?

'Ello,
Is this the 'Cynical' upgrade or Firmware patch or the replacement superdrive?
I have the 'Cynical' patch installed and don't want to upgrade if it's gonna bugger up my SD.
Thanks!

Ok, I said I had no problems since my upgrade, but I've actually found one. It seems that my Office Word files aren't being recognized any longer. Neither are Adobe .PDF files. I get a blank icon image of a white page after downloading these files. When I click on the file, it asks me to locate the program associated with it("There is no default application specified to open the document 'document name'"). When I select the program nothing happens. Anyone else experience this?

I upgraded the day it came out and on my PB17 it's really unhappy about waking up from sleep if you select the password required option in your security settings.
Also, my "upgraded" Superdrive no longer wants to work with Toast where it did in 10.3.2

Does it work with Diskcopy or iDVD?

Why not,
it fixes bug and makes panther that much more stable (at least in theory). So far I have not noticed any problems on my 15" pb

Haven't tried iDVD (yet), but works perfectly with Disk Utility. It's just Toast that is upset.
Today I tried flashing the Optical drive back to the original firmware and Toast is still upset "Mac OS Error -50" - whatever that is all about. Maybe 10.3.3 didn't break it after all? I'm happy to concede it was coincidental!

Thanks for the info! Much appreciated. Was your original patch the Region-Free one...And does that still work? Am asking to see whether I'm gonna do the update.
What version of Toast are you using?

I previously had the D101 firmware - 2x DVD-R, region-locked. In practice, I hadn't burned more than a couple of discs, so I'm not so heart broken to be back using the original Apple firmware (I have a PowerMac with 4x DVD-R capabilities, so guess which one I use
Btw, almost forgot, Toast 6.03. Still getting the error

Been almost a week since i've upgraded. no issues as of yet. I'd say go for it. boot time is less and finder seems a little snappier than it was before. Dont have any issues with Toast 6 either, burning a CD as I write this.
Cant believe I took this long to switch. Still cant get over how many things I can do at once on this machine with no performance hit at all.

Upgraded last night and FINALLY managed to access, easily, my desktop. Could transfer files and everything. I've been very unhappy with the networking part of Panther, which worked so beautifully in Jaguar and really let me switch from desktop to laptop easily.
So far, no other issues, but I haven't done that much yet.
So far, it's great. Now I have to upgrade my desktop.
