What is a foam diffuser. I just got off the phone with apple tech support and they replaced that, along with my screen. I guess it was related to the ticking sound that came from my 15 inch al pb. Can anyone tell me what this is?
I will tell u if they fixed it or if it was some BS attempt to say they fixed it, when it arrives at 12.

The foam diffuser is the spacer between the LCD and the reflector panel that reflects backlight back to you through the screen.

Notebook LCD panels are incredibly basic assemblies using plastic sheets for evening out the illumination from the single florescent bulb that lights the screen (located at the very bottom of the screen, the tube thinner than imaginable), and held together with lots of tape. Its really easy to imagine unevenly lit screen problems caused by a warping foam diffuser shifting between or behind the sandwiched sheets of glass housing the LCD grid.
