I am pretty sure that I am handling this the wrong way....

being that both objects will be a transparency

say I created a circle... then a square and put it on the bottom (send back, behind the circle)... how do i make the outline of that square sort of "invert" like a negative.... (transparency) as its under the other circle?

I've seen this done before.. but the only way I can do it is to manually draw it out... and create outlines myself... however I am sure there is an option as I've seen it done before

thanks

Bear with me here...I'm not entirely clear on what you're asking (it's early...haven't finished my coffee...)

You have a square behind a circle. The circle is a solid color? The square is...just an outline? Solid color with an outline? And you want the outline of the square to be viewable through the circle as an inverted color?
Have you set the transparency on the circle to "Difference"? Was that something like what you're trying to get?

place your square and circle, select all, go to view > pathfinder, then pick the one that looks like what you want, hit eexpand, and be done.

Select the circle. Find the "Transparency" palette. There is a drop-down on the palette that has a default setting of "Normal". Click that drop-down, scroll down to "Difference". This will effect everything under the circle, though.

Ok, I got it, it was in the transparency palette, although it was not difference. It was overlay, but thanks!
