Foxconn has embarked on an aggressive hiring campaign for its Shenzhen and Zhengzhou factories, hoping to improve production of the iPhone 6 and 6 Plus, according to Digitimes. The site indicates that because assembly line work isn't as attractive as it used to be in China, Foxconn is having a hard time recruiting enough people to staff its factories. As a solution, it has been staging hiring events to keep up its workforce. Demand for the 6 and 6 Plus is still extremely intense. The former can ship from Apple's US online store in as little as 7 to 10 days, but the 6 Plus is still quoted as shipping in 3 to 4 weeks. The situation is unlikely to improve much before 2015, since Apple has committed to launching the new iPhones in 115 regions by the end of the year, including China on October 17th.

Guess it's time for Apple to redesign the iPhone so it can be totally built by robots, reducing the need for 100's or thousands of Chinese workers, who now don't feel like doing assembly-line work.

Or maybe it's time for the Chinese companies to make assembly line work more attractive to potential employees.

Wow...with nearly 1 1/2 billion citizens, you'd think this would never be a problem.
