For some reason, the expression "Oh Snap!" sounds cool to me. I read in Wikipedia that it is based on lyrics from Markie song in 1989 "Just a Friend".

One of the expressions I hate is "My Bad". The first time I heard it, I thought it was a bad sentence, but when I thought about it, I realized that it may be okay, I just don't like it. It just sounds ignorant.

Any how what are some of your favorite expressions and expressions you hate?

I hate the random addition of "know what I mean?" or "ya know?" at the end of sentences.

I've also noticed people constantly beginning sentences with "So..." or "So like..."

All of the catch phrases that I enjoy seem to be the ones that originate from a group of friends that have a story behind them. Some personal favorites include "hilah-rah," "shame," and "mah!," but since no one here knows the backstory of each, they mean nothing to you.

Another one I like is "Now that's what I'm talking about".

And don't forget in the funny comic video of Steve Jobs and Bill Gates when Steve says, "iPhone Bitch".

I dislike these words and expressions (Note the common theme):

"Youuuuu!"
"Huhhhhhhhh?"
"WHAT?"
"OKAAAAAAAY!"
"Shawty"
"I be like dayyyyyum"
"Ay yo trip"

I say every last phrase I've read in this thread, plus another one:

AND YOU KNOW THAT'S RIGHT!! (lean back and point forward when you do it for extra effect)

In general, I dislike when old urban slang is thought to be new.
Examples:
"Booya" (circa 1991, Cypress Hill). It ain't new.
"Bling/Bling-Bling" (circa 1999, B.G.). It ain't new.

Edit: And another thing (slightly OT), everyone online seems to think that "Crunk" is the combining of the words Crazy and Drunk. Crunk is actually Southern slang that means to get hype or excited. It comes from the incorrect word being used as the past form of crank. "Did you get your car crunk?" Yes, I know it's not correct English.

Well, this past summer I was attending a theological conference in Charleston, and one of my colleagues made some disparaging comments about Origen Adamantius, one of my favorite theologians. In front of over 200 gathered fellows I said, rather loudly, "Oh no you didn't".

We required a 15 minute break for the laughter to die down.

My personal pet peeve is the expression, "I'm not gonna lie." It's just such a stupid, pointless use of four words, and it often seems to come out of the mouths of the same sorts of frat-boy idiots who use the expression "bra" (a.k.a. bro). Whenever someone says it, I stare at them and say, very accusingly, "Why? Are you lying to me??"
