Jerry Seinfeld is getting 300 Million to be in a new campaign to plug winders because he HATES the MAc vs PC ads.

I guess Apple will use screen caps of Jerry from his TV show standing near is Mac Plus?? Seems fair.

Did Seinfeld actually say he hates the ads? Do you have a source with the quote?

I also notice that Will Ferrell might be doing a pro-Vista ad for Microsoft, too. Didn't he do a couple of ads for Apple where he says, "I'm Will Ferrell and I'm a pornstar."

Seinfeld is perfect - he did a show about nothing, and now he'll do an ad about nothing. Wish I had come up with that line...

Just to clarify...

Seinfeld is getting $10 million. The ad campaign costs about $300 million.

Also, I always figured him as a Mac guy since he always had a Mac in his apartment in the show.

He's a money guy. He's done ads for HP recently. Making a cool 10 mill ain't so bad even if you have to pimp a crappy OS. I can't say I wouldn't do it.

I disagree, when you have as much money as he already does it is called being a sellout.

i hope MS as usual screws up the messaging and people hate MS more than ever. honestly, 300 mil is already enough to make people hate MS but the tone of the ad and what it says will have to be perfect.

Seinfeld is no trusted computer expert... will people take him/MS seriously? i'd love for this to become a New Coke type thing.

p.s. the whole "Mojave" thing was a complete mistake. the ad thingies actually have the people confirm how whack Vista is before MS enlightens them. sad... they don't even know how stupid they are.

kids like apple now and i think it can easily turn into youth revolt type stuff against MS... hopefully.

I have this parody of the "Soup Nazi" episode going through my mind right now. It goes something like this:

Scene 1 - Jerry and is latest fling are getting all cutesy with each other calling themselves "XP". Goerge is getting really annoyed that they won't let the 'XP' thing die.

Scene 2 - George and Jerry are going to this new computer shop after Elaine holds back to pick up an antque Amiga someone is selling on the street. They're going over the proper purchasing proceedure.

Scene 3 - while waiting in line at the new PC place they see their irritating acquaintance Bill Gates at the back of the line who comes up and starts talking, saying a little too loudly that they guy that runs the shops is called "The OS Nazi", George and Jerry send him back to the back of the line.

Scene 4 - Inside the the shop, Steve Jobs stand behind the counter dishing out his MacOS looking like he just interviewed a virgin. George Steps forward and carefully places his order "One MacBook to go", then steps up Jerry "One MacBook Pro and a 17 inch iMac". George, receiving his order looks and sees he only has 512 RAM. He Starts to complain. "You want more RAM?" Barks Steve, "100 dollars!". George Complains again "200 dollars!" Jerry pleads with George to let it go, but George doesn't. "No MacOS for you" bellows Steve.

If you've seen this episode, you know how the rest of my parody would go....except for the end which would be:

Steve Balmer (Playing Newman's role) coming all giddy out of the shop smelling the sweet sweet Mac OS with an idiotic grin on his face.

How's that for creativity
What, me worry?

I dont' get it either. Seinfeld is a big mac fan as he always had one in his sets apartement. I remember he even had a TAM once.

What a sell out. Not that I am surprised as I remember George doing KFC commercials shortly after Seinfeld ended.

I always assumed he was a Mac fan as well...

But do you think those computers might have been selected and placed there by Mac users in the staff/crew?

I could have sworn that I read in the 90's that they were there because he himself was a big mac fan. Same reason all that superman crap was all over over the set too.

Probably true. I'm just trying to cope with my disappointment.

$300 MILLION! Hell, I'd sell out for $300 million. Then I'd do Apple Commercials for free. No Compete Clause was struck down in California. YOINK!

I doubt that which computer's on set has anything to do with the actors' preferences. I always did wonder though, why 70% (at least) of most movies and tv shows use Macs on set. I'm thinking it's a licensing thing. Easier to license rights to one OS on one computer, than an OS on multiple types of computers.

I'm also wondering if Seinfeld/MS ads will be bashing the MAC just as the MAC/PC ads do (though subtlety).

Who cares, everyone knew MS couldn't just sit there when vista wasn't selling and they saw the successes of the "I am mac" program. People are making it sound like Seinfeld sold his soul to the devil. He could be a mac guy, who knows but for the Bee movie he helped plug HP computers. Plus how many of us would do commercials for vista for 10 million - most I suspect. To Seinfeld, its a job, not choosing a religion or something.

Maybe he'll pull a Lucas and digitally 'enhance' all the episodes so that all the Macs are PCs.

Perhaps he does hate the Mac vs. PC commercials. I know I do, especially when Apple makes claims about Windows, but neglects to mention that they apply to MacOS as well.

Jerry was offered $5,000,000 per episode to do a 10th season of Seinfeld. That would've been another $110,000,000 before taxes. I'm sure he made close to that during the 9th season. Also, he made $6,000,000 per episode when they were picked up for syndication.

He's not hurting for money. He doesn't NEED $10,000,000. So why is he doing these Microsoft ads? Was he really THAT annoyed by the Mac/PC ads?

He was annoyed by Dockers pants ads in real life (and expressed it in this episode), but c'mon...

I think more than money, Seinfeld wants relevance. Nobody gives a crap about him anymore, so he's going to do as much unfunny stuff as it takes to get somebody to notice him again (evidence: Bee Movie).

I suspect much of what Seinfeld does is still driven by the desire to recover from this shirt:
