Approximately 3 or 4 months ago reported here at Macnn and other Mac reporting sites like TUAW Steve Jobs announced that there would be an Apple announcement on October 12, so is this still expected ?
Perhaps the announcements that have already been made last month cancelled out the October 12 event, if so why has nobody has made mention of it or I have simply neglected to read this anywhere.
But if this announcement is still going on, why are there no buckets of hype everywhere about it. Has the announcement been forgotten by the September grab bags ?

10/12 is a thursday, and we all know that new product announcements/apple press releases/media events are made on Tuesdays.... so 10/10, 17, 24, 31 (yey, new stuff for halloween!) would be more likely

That's not true anymore. Wednesday's have also seen new releases. The Core 2 iMacs were announced Wednesday, Sept. 6.
