That's a bunch of BS.

My display had white spots and it's a Dec 2003 PowerBook (serial V7351...).

I wonder how long it will be before Apple extends the program to cover those PowerBooks as well...

Well...that is giving them a little bit too much credit. As can easily be gathered from the infamous white spot thread, that move should have come a few months ago. They are as sluggish to acknowledge "known issues" as everyone else (unless they have to fear that something is going to blow up...)

I just got my Powerbook fix before my 1 year free warranty runs out. A new screen, and some new mounting fixtures. I sent in on Friday, and got it back on next Wednesday. Not bad on the turnaround service time.

I thought I might not be able to get it fixed almost after one year of purchase, and I am worried about it might not be completely fixed, so I let the support guy persuade me to buy AppleCare.

Good thing is that Apple takes responsibility of their own design flaws. Bad thing is that if I know it that Apple might offer this extended service plan, I might have decided not to spend another 350 dollars on purchasing AppleCare.

Oh well. Now I secretely wish that something breaks down again, so I can get my money's worth.
