You know you shouldn't generalise. 99.99% of us "kiwis" are not weird.

and you know you shouldn't be reading too much into other people's posts ... especially not in a thread like this one.
fyi, one of my best buddies is a kiwi - he's as crazy as a rat in a shithouse and i wouldn't want to have him any other way - nothing wrong with being weird. on top of that, i stereotype people all the time - germans are a bunch of stuck-up squares, the french are obnoxious ... kiwis are weird, etc. - does that automatically imply i believe these statements to be true? only as long as people take themselves ( and/or their nationality, respectively) a tad bit too serious ...

Luckily the quake was off the coast of the South Island, 420 km away from where I live. No damage reported and no one hurt, just lots of people who are a tad nervous. My cats and I dove for cover under a door frame. I nearly had to rescue a 21" CRT monitor which was about to fall off a computer desk but luckily it stopped after 1 minute. Luckily my beloved G5 is so heavy it didnt move at all.
FYI

mildly disturbing... but there is no biological reason for it to be bad, but if she's doing it in public, then we've got another issue
i'll pass, thanks

I suppose it's her prerogative, but good God; doesn't it hurt?!
On a more serious note, is this entirely healthy for the puppy? The milk of most species is tailored to meet that species' needs, and while there is always some crossover, it's not usually easy for one species to survive solely on the milk of another. Cows' milk, for example is popular among humans, but we couldn't survive on it alone.

You are in Soviet Russia. It is dark. Grue is likely to be eaten by YOU!

Well, after reading the article -which I suppose I should have done in the first place- it would appear that it doesn't hurt, and is more or less healthy for the puppy. My questions are answered.
But I still have to wonder why she didn't just use a pump to put the milk into bottles and feed the baby that way. That would be the sensible thing to do, if the usual way wasn't working.

Is it any weirder then feeding our babies cow milk? That's pretty messed up when you stop to think about it.

At this point of the thread, I'd like to emphasize that - as a baby - I was not breastfed by a cow.
