Record temps, the official high was 84.
Alaska has a half a million acres of charred land right now.
The wildfire situation in Alaska is being described as the worst in the nation. Half a million acres have burned so far this season. Right now, more than 50 wildfires continue to burn throughout the state.
Is there another state where half a million acres could burn, and not a single dwelling be damaged?
I've been working on putting down laminate flooring in a spare bedroom that is becoming an office. The room is on the second floor, there is no AC in our house, and I was sweating my ass off.
We used the snap-together stuff this time, and it was much, much easier than the glue together laminate.
No respite in site, the temps are supposed to stay upper 70's to lower 80's until Friday.

Lucky bas**** The summer in Germany has sucked so far, coldest summer in 25 years, it's 74F now. Pretty sucky, huh?

"Whatever happened to autumn? Whatever happened to temperatures drooping before the winter chill? Whatever happened to a nation that proclaimed itself concerned about global warming but has since walked away from treaties protecting the environment?
"We had wild bears walking around in 70-degree temperatures, telling themselves, "I think I should be hibernating in a cave by now - but, jeez, it's so balmy out here."

84 is hot for Alaska? Wow, that's almost considered a cold front down here in Virginia.

It is all relative. Depends on the humidity to determine the comfort level. I just really enjoy each nice day of weather that we have. Today just happens to be one of them.

I noticed in parts of the world where it gets too hot people tend to be a little on the "I likes ma gun" types.

Sigh, I miss Alaska (moved there when I was 4 and left when I was 16). Someday I'll go back.

No, it's a ghost. I don't know why it looks like that, the box was empty. I looked at the original shot and it looks like something is in there, but there wasn't.
Bit cooler today, high of 74. Took our kayaks to a nearby lake and paddled around for a few hours. Still managed to get a slight sunburn.
Here is an older photo of the lake (at least a small portion of it), I didn't take my camera today.

Doubtful. Perhaps if the fire ducked and dodged buildings and an entire state went aflame.
Like my father-in-law puts it, if Alaska was cut in half, it would biggest and second biggest states.
But I'm pretty sure their place won't burn, they are on Unalaska in Dutch Harbor. Hard for flames to get there!
