This morning my MacBook seemed to be getting a little flaky. The wifi was connecting and disconnecting, despite my other wifi devices maintaining solid connections. I decided to reboot the machine ... it's been at least two weeks since it was last rebooted. On reboot, I received a chime, but the screen was off. After a few seconds, the screen flashed on but remained blank with no obvious bootup activity.
Is it dead or does anyone know a possible recovery. Laptop is out of warranty.

have you tried an external HD? resetting the SMU and PRAM? can it be seen in firewire target disk mode?

Documented here many times and easily Googled:
Hold cmd-option-p-r at boot until you hear the boot chime at least twice.
