Warning: Objects in mirror are closer than they appear. Don't believe it? Take a peek at the high performance FAQ;

November 2006 The SMP client is now looking good enough that we are starting a more broad alpha test outside of Stanford. If that looks good, we will move to a broader beta test of this new client.
Hope to see you there!

That, and the potential of the GPU processing are good news. I have 5 single processor Macs at the moment, though I am hoping to pick up a dual core 2.3 G5 someday. But what I'd really like to see is a FAH BOINC client, it's been a long time waiting and looks like it's still a long ways off...

Key features of the SMP client:

1. The OSX SMP client runs native Intel code, not through Rosetta, so the performance boost in that alone is big news and big points.
2. The (OSX and Linux) SMP client allows Stanford to process bigger chucks of data more quickly, so they will reward us with more points for dedicating those extra resources, just as they have in the past (Big WUs, etc.).

I take it, then, this is for Intel Macs only? Only Macs with PCI Express video buses?

The GPU client only run on windows. There is now a multi GPU client.

The SMP client only runs on OS X/Intel and Linux (no windows).

Anyone has a PPD estimate on Core Duo and Core 2 duo?

Can't get the SMP client to run (server problem on their end apparently).

Running now... Let's see what a CD 2.0ghz can do...

On project 3009, a 587 pointer, should be done under 24 hours.
Whao, I was expecting 200 PPD, this is 3 times as much.
I am going to sell everything PPC...
