When is it going to happen? They have a lot of issues to fix soon! It's coming up on one month soon!

Good software gets released when it's ready.
Relax, it's not panic time yet.

I agree, it is time for a release. The bugs are really annoying. Apple patched Tiger very quickly after its release. We're going on three weeks now with v. 1.0. Get the freakin' lead out, Apple.

Probably around the same time people use question marks in their titles to distinguish between a statement and a question.

I swear to god, some people are just as excited to get their first update as they were to get a phone.

You mean you didn't get it? Just press the software update button repeatedly in iTunes. It will show up eventually.

Wow - no one got the Spaceballs reference. Sad.
The correct answer was "Soon."

The irony of the clamoring for an update should be apparent to everyone: rushing any such update would either a) allow for some bugs not to be fixed due to lack of time, b) allow for new bugs to creep in due lack of Q&A, or c) both.
The iPhone is in a unique place for Apple that demands careful attention to the software given the complexity of the hardware, interoperability on AT&T's network, and diverse user-land computer/iTunes setups.
The few bugs that I have occasionally run up against are not all that annoying. I'm looking forward to the next BIG update that will probably coincide with Leopard that ought to include interoperability with system-wide to-do and notes functions. Also, as time goes on, it is increasingly apparent that the lack of true 3rd-party apps is a huge blow against the adoption of the iPhone by many. For me, medical apps à la Epocrates or Up-To Date that have data locally stored would be AWESOME simply because I could drop my dumb, antiquated Palm.
