I recently got a PB 12' and I'm new to all this...so please bare with me.

All of a sudden the main Help won't work anymore. It will bring it up like it was opening it and then automatically just shut it off.

It works when I go into programs. Anybody know anything?

Thanks in advance

Try this first ...

Applications .. utilities .. disk utility .. repair permissions.

It's always a good first step, especially after an update.

Also, you might want to try this ...
run it manually this time ... then set it up to do it automatically

Macaroni is a tool which handles regular maintenance for Mac OS X's Unix core. Normally these tasks run on a regular schedule, in the middle of the night. However if you don't leave your Mac on all night, they never run. Your Mac won't wake from sleep to handle this. Macaroni solves this problem. If a scheduled maintenance task is not run when it's normally scheduled, Macaroni automatically ensures that it's run at the next opportunity, whenever the Mac is on.

Try to trash these two files :

com.apple.help.plist
com.apple.helpviewer.plist

(they are located in your home directory, Library/Preferences)

and trash the help cache folder too :

com.apple.helpui

(located in Library/Caches)

Thank you. I called Apple Support and they were really nice at helping me and all. It was the Cache folder that needed to be trashed.
