Isn't the easiest way to get iTunes-purchased songs to play on my Xbox 360 just to burn a CD and either rip it to the 360 or if I want to use my flash drive with the 360, rip it to iTunes, segregate the files from their official iTunes Store counterparts and then copy those new ones to the flash drive?

I have no interest in removing the DRM for some sort of philosophical or rebellious reasons. I use our Macs and iPods to play back iTunes purchased songs, but I'd just like to play some of them on my 360, too. I know I'll lose some quality burning to CD from a 128kbps AAC and then ripping it back into iTunes, but I'm just playing the songs as soundtracks while playing games; so I should think the rip and snort of Gears of War will drown out any noticeable quality difference.

Yeah, I've already been tried and convicted in secret court, imprisoned, and as is the practice of these totalitarian societies, await execution by shot to the back of the head without further notice or warnng. It's sad I have to go this way, but rules are rules. I've posted this reply 47 times to 12 different forums on the site. So that my death will stand for something, a sort of political statement, they'll execute me 48 times.

(I posted the message, wondered why I wasn't getting any replies to what seemed a simple question, noticed I had for some reason posted the original in "Peripherals" so I went and posted it where it belonged, where I did get almost immediate replies.)

Yes. You'll suffer from some loss of quality, because the initial iTunes song uses lossy compression, then when you uncompress it onto CD and re-compress it again, you'll lose even more of the signal. Also, if you're not burning just a single, whole album onto a CD, you're likely going to have to re-enter all the ID data into iTunes manually.

But what you're proposing will work. Try it on an iTunes song you own with a lot of dynamic range and see if you can hear the difference....
