Or even make an imagine copy of the Disc?

I am sorry, maybe I should've been more clear.
Is there a program that makes the *.VOB files to something like and *.avi or a *.mpeg?

Not sure if Forty-Two is what you want but I use it to burn DVDs onto my hard drive by compressing it into divx (.avi files). Then just use VLC or mPlayer to watch the movie.
