Hi, sorry gotta ask a question for a friend. I was wondering what is the brand for current Apple Superdrives?

Also what do you guys think about this?

Will it be the same speed as the ones in the current powermacs? I heard that the Pioneer DVR-A05 is currently one of the best right now. The one from MCE isn't a Pioneer is it?

It's hard to say what's under the covers of this drive, but if you call this vendor, they should be able to tell you. And yes, I believe the Apple-shipped model is a Pioneer A05/105.

Look on dealmac for the best deals on this stuff. Right now, esBuy.com has a Pioneer 105 for $244, I think. But I'm waiting for Staples.com to run another sale on the Cendyne drive, which is a Pioneer under the hood. This has been down to $150-170.
