Okay, I know this is stupid, but how do you expand a ".bin" file?

I downloaded the new Acrobat Reader 5.1 but the file is in .bin format.

Every single time I click on it, it opens up Toast like I want to burn it on to a CD or something.

Bin (Mac Binary) files are not compressed; they are encoded. They can be decoded with StuffitExpander or DiskCopy. You should probably set one of those two applications as the default for .bin files, unless you use PC-style .bin CD images a lot.
