Is there a way to enter repeating dates in one's iTouch calendar for a specific day of the month, e.g. the third Monday? I was able to so with the Palm software on their devices. Thanks!

If you're asking whether or not you can repeat an "event", then yes. Its a button in the setup of the event. You can repeat daily, weekly, bi-weekly, monthly or yearly.

Thanks. I was wondering if someone else had discovered a work around OR if the very recent Apple iPhone OS upgrade contained what I am trying to find. I'll ask Apple themselves, and if nothing else, put a bug in their ear.

The work-around is to sync your calendar with a desktop machine. You can make the appointment in iCal (or Outlook on a PC) with whatever sort of repeat you want. The iPod Touch will support those types of repeats with no issue, you just can't make those type of repeating appointments directly on the device. I believe even the new 3.0 firmware behaves like this.

I think it's funny that there are so many things my old Palm V could do that the iPhone and iPod Touch can't....

Um, iCal can't do the sort of repeat he's asking for, either.

Sure it can.

Edit event > repeat > custom > frequency > monthly > on the > third > Monday

Very true, but I ("he") just stumbled on a way to get my desired repeating dates. One needs MS Entourage (I have the Mac 2008 version). I can use the custom date setting in Entourage and have Entourage enabled to sync with iCal. It works like a charm!

Not at all. You can use iCal to set up this type of "every 3rd Saturday" event quite easily.

When you select the repeat setting for the item in iCal, choose "Monthly." At the bottom of the Monthly dialog, there is a "on the" button; you use this and the settings below it to set up "3rd" and "Saturday." Easy and quick. Now sync with your iPhone, and the phone's iCal retains the repetition.

How about you read the thread? How to do it in iCal is right up there.

Disclaimer: This is my software.

You can also do it with a third-party calendar app on the iPhone.

Apparently repetition doesn't help with this person.

You've got a point there.

Let's try re-reading, and restating, the original question: "entering (aka syncing) repeating dates with one's iTouch calendar…" Obviously, after applying the knowledge accrued, I still was not able to sync my iCal calendar with my iTouch device's calendar. Apple Help supplied that information:
To sync your calendars using iTunes:
With iTunes open, connect your iPhone or iPod to your computer.
Click the Info tab (or the Contacts tab), and then select the “Sync iCal calendars” checkbox.
Select whether you want to sync all your calendars or only the calendars you select.
Select any other options you want, and then click Apply.
Your calendar information is updated each time you connect your iPhone or iPod to your computer.
Thanks for the gentle prodding. Now my iTouch calendar reflects my iCal.

ARGH! It was just that? I'm sorry we all got into the bickering at all, but I'm really, really sorry we didn't address "is iTunes set to sync calendars for your iTouch?" Not that a good solid argument isn't worthwhile, but missing the point for this long is frustrating. We should have gotten you straightened out fast and then started arguing.

I'm glad you're all synced up now.
