I have an Apple BT keyboard paired with my iPad 4 and if the keyboard is not used for a certain amount of time, when I go to type on it, the first letter I hit can be doubled, tripled, or even quadrupled. It is really annoying.
It seems to be going into some sort of standby mode and having trouble coming out of it. Has anyone experienced this? Some googling found similar threads in the Apple discussion board but no solutions, just people chiming in.

What is the battery status on your keyboard? I use a similar setup (relatively rarely), and I've never had anything like this happen. Maybe the waking isn't as smooth because your batteries are getting low.

the keyboard had been used with an iMac without problems before. I had suspected low battery, but even after a full recharge it reliably stutters on first keypress after ~60 seconds.

Have you thoroughly cleaned the keyboard? (Grasping at straws here, but a dirty keyboard can stutter because of stuff hindering key return, etc.)

keyboard is very clean. It has to be something with the BT wakeup and iOS BT wakeup. nothing makes a difference though.
